1 cm & 50% Effaced

What does this mean? I had an OB appointment tonight & I am freaking out because last week my cervix was closed. How did I get to 1 cm without even knowing it?

We set a date for July 6th, but if I start having contractions, they will take the babies. I was hoping that I would make it to at least 36 weeks....that is 1 1/2 weeks away.

Oh well, I better go lie down. Take care & thanks for any input!

    I wouldn't worry too much about the 1cm thing just as Janet and Lynn said. I was 2 cm dialated with Jacob for 2 weeks and did not go into labor before I was induced at 39 weeks. Just stay off your feet and stay hydrated. These babies could be here in only 1 1/2 weeks....wow!

    Wow, progress! I wouldn't get to worried, I was dilated to 3 cm and completely effaced for a few weeks. I went into my induction 4cm dilated and still hadn't felt too much. I agree that the pressure of twins pprobably makes you thin out quicker and dilate. Get some rest, stay hydrated and I'll be praying that you keep them in for another week and a half.

    yeah, what they said- same story here, 1 cm and 50% forever- even drugs couldn't help me! Just stay off your feet and let your dh pamper you! Good luck!

    I was 1 cm dialted at 33 weeks and nothing happened since then im 34wks and 5 days now having a few contraction hoping this little one will make it out safe and sound cuz I am so done being pregnant...im scheduled for an ultrasound tuesday 11/08 hopefully i will see some progress

    I'm 1 cm and 50% effaced and I'm 39 weeks. I've been stuck at 1 cm and 50% effaced since I was 34 weeks with no changes. My cousin was 5cm dilated for two weeks when she was preggers. It's different for everyone. You might sit at 1 cm for what feels like eternity or you might not. You can't really tell when you'll go into labor based on these things.
